What is counselling?
Counselling is a form of talking therapy that offers a confidential, collaborative space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained professional.
People come to counselling in different ways. Some arrive with a specific issue they would like to work through, while others come with a general sense of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure.
Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, a counsellor works alongside you to help you better understand your experiences, emotions, and patterns. This process can support greater self-awareness, clarity, and the possibility of change.
Counselling moves at your own pace and focuses on what feels most important for you to explore.
What Is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression alongside conversation to support emotional wellbeing and self-understanding.
You do not need to be good at art — or even make art at all. The focus is not on artistic ability, but on exploring thoughts and feelings in a different way.
Sometimes words can be difficult to find. When words fail, art can speak in other ways, helping to express and understand experiences that may feel complex or hard to articulate.
Art therapy can be particularly helpful when:
- You find it difficult to put your experiences into words
- Talking alone does not feel enough
- Being around others feels challenging
- Life changes feel overwhelming or hard to navigate
In sessions, you may choose to work with art materials, talk, or move between the two. Like counselling, art therapy takes place in a confidential and supportive space and moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Do I need to be able to draw?
No! It’s not about the end product, but the process and the meaning it has for you.
How do I choose a therapist?
There are many therapy modalities, and it can feel overwhelming. Research consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in effective therapy. A short intro call can help you decide if you feel comfortable speaking with a therapist and whether the fit feels right.
How often are sessions?
Regular sessions are important for therapy to be effective.
Sessions are usually 50 minutes and are typically offered weekly.
